Martin County is located in the southwestern Indiana. Nestled amongst the rolling hills and along the banks of the White River is the county seat, Shoals. In a county where places with names like Lost River, Peggy Holler, Trinity Springs, Hindostan, and Loogootee there simply MUST be tales begging to be told! Folks from Martin County gave these locations the colorful names because of the events and people living there. With each birth in the county, a new chapter is begun in the saga of Martin County.
In May of 1997, this project was organized by Jeff Murphy, using the established KY Biographies Project as a model. State coordinators were sought to set up their own state project. They were offered the system design and tools created for the KY project, but were free to set up their project in any way they chose. I am Diana Craig Busche and I am the coordinator for Martin Co., Indiana. Volunteers are needed to enter, edit, and archive the biographies for each project.
If you have biographies you would like to donate for Martin County please contact me. Help preserve Martin County's heritage by adding a chapter to be shared with future generations!
If you would like to volunteer to coordinate a county please contact the Indiana State Coordinator Deb Murray.
Thanks for visiting! There have been visitors since January 12, 1998.
